Is a deposit required to confirm the session, and what are the payment terms?

Yes. Typically, a 50% retainer (or full payment) is required to confirm your booking as well as a signed contract. I do offer custom payment plans for anyone who may need one.

Do you have a contract, and what are your policies on cancellations and refunds?

Yes. I require a signed contract before booking and cancellation fees are included in my contract. I try to be flexible with these whenever possible. The retainer, on the other hand, is meant to hold your date and cover any loss from holding said date and is not refundable in the event of a cancellation. If you’ve made payments and cancel before all services are complete, you may be eligible for a refund after the retainer and any potential cancellation fees are covered. However, if the shoot has taken place and you’ve downloaded the images, that session is no longer eligible for a refund. That said, I do understand financial struggle and I will try to accommodate if possible, but please understand that having a cancellation after holding a date & all the work proceeding a shoot, only to lose that income is a major loss for a small business run by one, human person.

What happens if the weather is bad or I need to reschedule?

This is not a problem & there will be no penalties in the case of rescheduling due to major inclement weather. I tend to be fairly flexible with rescheduling if it is needed or cannot be avoided on either side. However, after a number of reschedules, we’ll either need to officially cancel or you may be charged a rescheduling fee & a new retainer per my contract.

Can I choose which images are edited and delivered?

Yes to choosing which images are delivered. Not so much on the editing. I try to offer as much variety as possible in every shoot. To do so, after two rounds of culling, I edit all of the usable images from the session. Afterwards, I upload a fully edited proof gallery to a private online gallery where you can then choose your favorites. The selected images are then re-uploaded & downloading is activated. The final gallery is always client-curated, aside from those who purchase a full gallery.

Do you offer retouching, and what does that include?

I include some light retouching in my editing process for small and temporary blemishes, etc. I’m not a professional retoucher, so there are things I can do & things I cannot. For more extensive retouching services, I charge an hourly fee of up to $50, which may vary based on the specific type of retouching required. I do not retouch permanent features such as body shape & size.

Do you provide digital images, prints, or both?

All of my collections include digital images. I am open to including prints by request. I am able to personally print up to 13×19 prints, for an additional fee. For anything larger, I can activate ordering through a professional print studio via your online gallery. For non-commercial portrait sessions, I will provide a print release by request, but I do not recommend printing at a local retailer if possible. The colors and quality tend to be both inaccurate and inconsistent with the digital version.

How long does it take to receive my final images?

Because I offer a fully edited proof gallery & tend to hand edit each of my sessions, my turnaround time can be up to 8 weeks. I always aim for wrapping up earlier though, if possible.

Can I use the photos for commercial purposes or social media?

Yes, for biz owners investing in my collections for businesses, the pricing includes commercial licensing. For those investing in regular portrait sessions, the final images are for personal use only (i.e. personal social media and personal print only). Friendly reminder that copyright ownership usually remains with creators unless alternative arrangements have been established and payment has been finalized. It’s common practice in the creative world for the copyright owner (the artist) to set boundaries about how photos are used and to pay for commercial licensing and the transfer of copyright ownership.

What’s up with the star leafy thing in your logo?

So glad you asked! The “star leafy thing” is actually a Paopu fruit from one of my all-time favorite games – Kingdom Hearts. I’m a nerd and darn proud of it- if you didn’t know, now you know 😉. Anyway the legend goes that if you share a single Paopu fruit with someone, your destinies become intertwined and you’ll remain a part of each other’s lives no matter what. And that’s what photography means to me – deep connection & being a part of someone’s life in a significant, destiny inspired kind of way. I get a bit happy teary whenever I think of this little nugget. So, this will always be part of my logo, no matter what!
